Project-Based Learning and Inquiry 2020
“Project-based learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.” -TKI
Knowledge is no longer power, it is what you do with that knowledge that is power. Back by popular demand, in this webinar, Toni will explore the question...How might we support our students to be critical and creative thinkers who strive to make a difference in the world? and...how might we encourage them to use their powers for good!
Toni will share practical ways to put students in the driver's seat- to have them exploring and driving
learning. We will unpack what project-based learning can look like at different year levels and explore some tried and tested tools and strategies to either dip your toes into PBL or add value to what you already do.
Alongside this, Toni will share ways you can incorporate aspects of the digital technologies curriculum into your PBL or inquiry model.
What you'll learn
An understanding of what PBL is and the thinking that sits behind it.
- Some key tools and strategies to try that will add elements of PBL to your learning programmes.
- Explicit ways to make the digital technologies curriculum come alive in PBL or inquiry.
Teachers and school leaders who would like to develop a more practical understanding of how to integrate PBL into teaching and learning programmes.
This webinar is aimed more at year 3 and up but there are aspects which would be integrated into a year 0-2 classroom.
Toni is an amazing facilitator. She is extremely well organised and the material she shares is always practical. Her delivery is amazing. I have been involved in a lot of PLD in my 26 years of teaching and she would be by far one of the best facilitators I have experienced. - Deputy Principal, Whanganui.
